Bottom Line By The Numbers

I took 192 hours to complete 18.01SC, distributed over a total span of 48 days (i.e., considering the day I started to the day I ended). I did not study everyday, so if you count the days I actually spent studying, it was 37 days. I took a break in the middle for reasons unrelated to the course (I recently moved from Europe to my home country Brazil, and I enjoyed some time hanging out with my parents).

Here is a graph showing the cumulative hours I spent on this course:

I took 81 pages of notes from the 36 lectures, completed 11 problem sets totaling more than 60 pages of problems solved, took more than 30 pages of notes from the textbook, and completed additional dozens of pages of problems from end-of-chapter problems.

All in all I would say I was working at a moderate pace. One could complete the course faster, and I will say a bit about this towards the end of my discussion below.

Spending multiple years self-studying whatever I want. Born in 🇧🇷 grew up in the 🇺🇸, I quit my tech job in🇨🇭 to study full-time on my own.
