I have a 13-inch early 2015 MacBook Pro that’s been with me through a lot. Two years ago I spilled a full glass of protein shake on the keyboard. Apple told me I would need to replace most internal components, at a cost of around 1000 USD. I decided to do nothing, and the laptop has been working perfectly ever since.

This week, I woke up one day to find out that the keyboard and trackpad were not working any longer. First I went to an Apple store, but they told me the same thing as two years ago: there are traces of liquid inside the laptop, so the only fix we can offer is replacing all the components inside.

Both connect via bluetooth, and given I have a password on my MacBook, the first issue was that I couldn’t even log in. I went to an electronics store, and connected a USB mouse and keyboard, logged in, paired the bluetooth mouse and keyboard, and bought all four: I bought the USB keyboard and mouse as well just in case I had pairing…
